Shouts In The Wind

This piece was created as an entry to a competition sponsored by SonoKinetic and is a trailer to highlight the release of the Ibrido Cinema sound plugin.

The video clip provided by SonoKinetic had no sound to it which pretty much gave me a free pallette to work with, letting me balance the musical soundtrack and the supporting sound effects to get my idea across.

To me, the video seemed to be sharing the story of the meeting of 2 civilizations with different approaches to tech vs natural. I wanted to highlight the commonalities as well as the stark difference and include a sense of urgency in the soundtrack. I drew heavily on the existence of rhythmic percussion music as being some of the oldest and yet contemporary music in our collective musical history.

Highlighting the different civilizations was left more to the use of subtle effects and pad sounds, while the commonality is driven by an underlying pulse to all the music and effects.

I used Cubase 7.5 for this piece, along with plugins from Spitfire Audio, including their excellent Orchestral Percussion Library. Nearly all the effects and digital pads are from Sonokinetics Ibrido Cinematica plugin. Combining Audio and Video was carried out in OpenShot.
