Over the last weekend I took on the challenge of creating a cue for a scene from HBO’s Westworld. This is part of a competition by Spitfire Audio, in tandem with HBO to create a short soundtrack for a chase scene from the Season Finale of Westworld Season III.
Challenging, yes, but I got a chance to play around with some of the amazing libraries from Spitfire Audio to create dense orchestral moments contrasting with high-paced complex percussive sections. Honestly, I can say I’m really happy with the outcome, and, as an added bonus, get to have this video clip on my show-reel, courtesy of HBO and Spitfire Audio.
The most nervewracking part of this is that the entries from the finalists will be judged by the shows creators, J J Abrams and Ramin Djawadi. I just think it’s super cool to have the chance to get something I’ve composed in front of those guys.
